A Look Inside: Time & Sun

TIME AND SUN

The sun is shining on my face,
As I stand shivering in the wind;
And I have sought to find the place,
Where I can feel its warmth again.
The chilling breeze will not relent,
As the light soujourns to the west;
Though I am here in sunlight spent,
I shall not know completed rest,
Til the circle of light gives way
To eternal day.

The hawk and the clouds adore the wind,
For it takes them on their way;
To places where their fate would send,
Through the relentless march of day;
But I am left alone to grasp
Where His Providence has set me firm,
And I must watch the daylight pass,
As I am bound
Through time and toil
In this temporal term.

Time and sun are of such marriage,
It seems that both were meant to be;
One the driver, one the carriage,
Bearing me straightway toward eternity.
Sun by day, moon by night,
Created and reflected light;
Remind me of my inexorable flight,
To the place where new life unfurls,
And He shall be the Light
Of that new world.
